There has been much to be said n why Terrance Howard isn't performing this song at the Oscars this evening.  According to Howard his take on it is. "It took me months to find the voice of D-Jay, I don't think I can give the song it's just due.  Therefore, I won't be perfoming the song." 

Now when that I heard that I totally understood.  I took him on his word and didn't think twice about it.  It was to my understanding that Howard lived in a motel in Memphis for 3 months talking to pimps and hoes.  Recently there have been new allegations as to why he isn't performing the song. “Sidney Poitier said, ‘Do not get up there and represent the African American community singing about a pimp,’” Longoria told the newspaper.  Now I have no idea to the truth about this.

I guess I can see Mr. Poitier's apprehension about the song.  But why do African American's have to tip toe around Hollywood?  I hate talking about race but it does bug me sometimes.  Hustle and Flow wasn't just about a pimp, it was about a man with a dream.  A man who felt he had no other way out, he felt like rapping was his shot out.  At one point in the movie he even talked about how much he hated pimping.......

Well while Hustle and Flow is under the microscope.....Broke Back Mountain is praised.......No one is questioning the sexuallity of those actors or why they chose those roles....
